Your birthday is the one day a year when lots of brands want to give you something for free. The catch: almost all birthday freebies now require you to join a rewards program or app ahead of time. Here’s how to set it up and some of the best-known offers.
Table of Contents
How to get the most birthday freebies
- Sign up at least 2–4 weeks before your birthday. Many programs need your birthday on file for a week or more before the reward triggers.
- Add your birth date in each app’s profile. Some programs lock this once set.
- Use a dedicated email address so offers don’t flood your main inbox.
- Check redemption windows. Some rewards are valid only on your birthday; others last a week or the whole birthday month.
- Plan your day around nearby locations. Offers can vary by restaurant, and franchise locations may differ.

Kids and families
Many family restaurants, ice cream shops and entertainment venues offer free desserts, games or admission for kids’ birthdays through email clubs. Ask at your local spots.
Watch out for fake “birthday freebie” pages
Only give your birth date to official brand apps and websites. Be wary of sites that collect your birthday plus your phone number and address in exchange for a list of “secret” freebies. Brands never charge a fee for birthday rewards.
